We are taught by Christ to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). Therefore, we should be healthy in body, mind and spirit. After time with God in prayer and Bible study, you may use the equipment and videos we have in our “upper room” gym. We have a treadmill, a couple stationary bicycles, and other equipment to help you get fit and stay healthy. This may be a way for you to get ready for an upcoming event such as the Little Rock Marathon or next year’s Race for the Cure.
Wesley’s General Rules states in part –
“It is therefore expected of all who continue therein [that is, the class], that they should continue to evidence their desire of salvation, First, by doing no harm, by avoiding evil in every kind; especially that which is most generally practiced …”
What if “doing no harm” is interpreted to mean that we eat foods that give our bodies energy and keep us healthy?
Holy Healthy Saints
Some of our members used the equipment to get ready for the “Race for the Cure.”
Our team is led by Karen White. She is a breast cancer survivor. She has participated in the Little Rock “Race for the Cure” every year for the last several years. In 2009 she was also a member of the “runway for the cure” in Ay magazine as well.
This fall she begins a new endeavor through Primrose – dancing for health. Karen is really fond of Zumba dancing! She invites you to join us Wednesday evening at 5:30 for supper then she will lead us in Zumba dancing. Everyone can start slow, then build up speed as we get better. Come and see!
